At the end of an ordinary year, there is typically much to celebrate. But this year has been extraordinary in so many ways that we need to dedicate the time to celebrate with a truly special occasion -- our first Culture of Giving event, "A Stroll Around" Gala.
On June 4th, the campus will be transformed into a space that showcases the remarkable service efforts that the ASW community and our partners have engaged in. We will also showcase the impressive array of student talent ranging from performance to visual arts. We invite you to make plans to attend this formal affair (and even if you cannot attend, find a way to support our efforts).
Earlier this year, we would not have been able to gather the community together for an event like this because of our COVID protocols and restrictions. Indeed it is only very recently that these have been relaxed to a level that is conducive to our plans. The community has also been appropriately focused on meeting the sudden and profound needs of our neighbours from Ukraine. Our relief efforts have been nothing short of remarkable. This alone is cause for celebration.
When you combine all this, I hope you agree that it is appropriate and essential that we gather as a community in this way. Further, our proceeds from the event will be dedicated to extending our capacity to support our ongoing efforts.
Our Culture of Giving Gala has a website where you can read more about the event and order tickets. I have ordered my table and will be inviting a group of my colleagues and friends to enjoy this event with me and my wife as our special guests. I encourage you to join me in supporting ASW in this way.
If you cannot attend, there are a number of other ways to support our efforts:
Make a donation
Sponsor a table, so others can attend.
Purchase a raffle ticket (or 10!)-- prizes will be announced on 24 May).
I look forward to seeing you on June 4th at this first of its kind event!
