Dear ASW Community,

We are engaged in an exciting process that puts our students at the core of our continuous improvement efforts. We are entering the next phase of the accreditation cycle with our two organizations, the New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC and the International Baccalaureate (IB) using the Collaborative Learning Protocol (CLP) which outlines the framework for their shared process.

We are ready to begin the Internal Reflection, which unites ASW students, parents, teachers, staff, leaders and Board members in a process of deep reflection on our foundational structures and processes and our effectiveness as a learning community over the next 10-12 months.  This phase will end with a Reflection and Learning Plan Report submitted in December 2023 and a CLP Team Visit in February 2024.

We encourage your participation and contribution to this essential phase of the process as time allows. There are a variety of ways you may choose to engage in the CLP internal reflection phase which includes:

  • Join a committee to engage in a self-reflection process which sets a future direction for ASW.  Committees meet once a month (excluding July) with possibly a few, additional meetings scheduled as needed.  There will be five committees in total and each will focus reflection on one of the following NEASC ACE Learning Principles (five areas of focus will be chosen by mid-February).
  • Provide evidence of learning, practice, structures and systems when the committees seek examples of ASW experiences with the ACE Learning Principles. This may include providing access to documents, sharing information, participating in a video collection, etc.
  • Engage in short-term focus groups which will come together to consider any scenarios that may arise from the reflection process.  These are not pre-planned and will be organized once the committees begin to work.
  • Provide feedback through surveys and other tools as may be needed from the five committees.
  • Act as a report editor as sections of the report are written and we prepare for submission in December 2023.
We are organizing our committees to begin the reflection work with the first meeting planned for February 15th from 8:00 - 9:15 am.  If you are interested in joining in on this committee reflection work, please sign up HERE.  You may also use this form to indicate interest in any of the other opportunities noted above.  We will begin providing workshops for our community to introduce and clarify the NEASC ACE Learning Principles over the next few weeks.

We look forward to partnering together as we engage in a process that will positively impact our whole school community and inevitably lead to optimal learning experiences for all of our students.

Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions.

Warmest regards,
